EBT Cards, Food Stamps, and SNAP Benefits
Up to one in seven Americans receive food stamps through the SNAP benefits program. SNAP benefits can be collected in two forms of payment - via EBT cash, or electronic EBT transactions. If your business has been authorized by the U.S. Department of Agriculture to take these payments, then you potentially have a lot to gain, as these families could make up a significant percentage of your potential customer base.
EBT Cash AcceptanceAs a merchant, you should accept EBT cash payments, because the main advantage is you don't need government certification to be able to do it. Just talk to a member of our SoCal Merchant Services team, and we can help get you started right away.
Processing EBT TransactionsStarting out with processing EBT transactions couldn’t be easier. Provided your POS system is compatible with payment from both standard credit cards and EBT transactions, there shouldn’t be any need to upgrade your current system.
EBT cards are swiped in the usual manner, and are handled in the same way as debit cards. Completed payments will be credited to your bank account as usual during the settlement process.
